Bubba

What is Bubba

Bubba is a nifty little device that will act like a NAS, printer server, download manager, streaming media server, mail manager... actually almost anything you can think of. It is powered by an ARM9 processor running a full-featured Debian GNU/Linux operating system, so there is almost no end to the possibilities. Head on over to Excito for more information on Bubba.

Below you will find applications and other stuff I've made that may be useful if you own a Bubba Server (you are of course welcome to use them even if you don't own a bubba :-).

Don't hesitate to contact me if you find a bug, want to suggest an improvement or just want to let me know what you think of it. You can find my contact information from the menu above

NOTE! Be sure to read and understand the disclaimer before you use any information found here.

NOTE! These will only work with the older BUBBA|SERVER, NOT the new BUBBA|TWO.
I'm working on updates, so stay tuned.

Bubbamon on the Soundbridge
This application will run on a Bubba Server, gathering information like harddisk usage, temperature and information about active downloads. This information will then be presented on the display of a Pinnacle/Roku SoundBridge device.
Bubbamon in Firefox
This application is an extension to Firefox. The main purpose when making it was to make it easier to add new downloads, but I soon started to include features similar to the Soundbridge version. It will collect information on downloads in progress and finished downloads. This is then presented in the status bar. A popup window will display more details, like bubba uptime, harddisk usage, harddisk temperature (if hddtemp is installed on bubba). It will also display a list of active downloads, like filename, transfer speed and file size. Adding downloads to bubba is as simple as right clicking and select "Add to bubba downloads" or drag the link and drop it on the image in the status bar.
Repository scripts
This is two scripts I wrote to make it easier to change active repository. One is meant to be run manually when you want to change repository, the other script is meant to be run as a cron job. This cron job will make sure that your active repository is the one at Excito.
Bubbainfo
This is a perl program I wrote, that will connect to your bubba and print information about uptime, disk usage, downloads and more. It will do what the firefox plugin does, but this can be used in different ways. I use it for dynamic menu creation in Openbox, but other uses are possible. The output format is controlled with templates, making it possible to control what the output look like.
